She will come back, no doubt, to climb up from the Marina and watch old villagers on the pathways beside the clump of cottages and climb up the hill past the bar, where a single light shines weakly in the sun, and on out to the farmhouse, where the grass thick on the ground will deaden her footsteps so that she will move in sunlight as soundlessly as a butterfly.
But that will be a long time from now, and soon now she will sail away from the island and sail into the churning of the world, out of time and into time and the dreadful plainness of Life.
